It took me about a month to go through my entire catalog of images taken in 2017. Choosing over 500 images from thousands and then condensing that even more for this blog post. I wanted to include images that were not only from weddings I had the pleasure of photographing this year, but from family sessions, commercial collaborations and my travels around the globe. Honestly, I don’t expect anyone to really go through this entire post, I mean 216 images… seriously. But this whole process of review really allows me to reflect on everything I got to be a part of last year. All the big and little moments, all the connections and challenges, all the travel and growth; why let it all sit on hard drives never to be seen again? There will be a lot of photos that you may have already seen through social media and other posts, but the images that were chosen are not based on any sort of aesthetically pleasing component or likability. I chose the majority of these images based on my emotion towards them, whether that be because of the people, place, light and/or context. This made for a challenging cull.
2017 was an incredible year. My camera took me to places like New Zealand, Hawaii, Haida Gwaii, and Mexico allowing me to explore new ground and have a few beers naturally. I met so many amazing people, explored Joshua Tree and Montreal with some important women in my life, and also married my best friend. It was a busy, exhilarating year and for that I am so grateful. The support from my family and friends has no doubt led me strong in the pursuit of my dream to be a full time professional photographer. Thank you to them, thank you to all my clients who push and trust me, and thank you to myself for getting this shit done.
